Hi everyone, This is my RIO 240 African Malawi Cichlid aquarium update video 28/05/2011. The Mbuna that looks like it back part of it's body is black is Afra Deep blue Ndonga with a colour problem sometimes He's a normal colour. The green tint on the top half of the background is NOT green spray paint, it's caused by my day glow tube at the back of the tank. Hope you enjoy the video Please leave a comment, thumbs up and favourite (Only if you want too) Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE for more Aquatic related videos in HD. ==================================================== TAGS: fish aquarium tank cichlid Mbuna Malawi peaceful "show tank" aqua-scape "African Cichlids" music song filter tank stand AMAZING Aquariums Wildlife Nature Africa rocks "3D ROCK BACKGROUND" aquarium water aquatic Demasoni RIO juwel blue HD Afra "Lions cove" "yellow lab" Patricki feeding lighting aqua-scape stunning "deep blue" Ndonga Metriaclima Acei Ngara bolly12345 substrate bristlenose BN

Answer by PeeTee Rocks(Mbuna means Rockfish),Coral gravel (to maintain a high pH),and maybe a few really tough plants, lots of cover(they are relentless about territory),slightly oversize filtration(the high pH makes toxins more toxic),also the rocks must be sitting on a solid bottom to avoid “slabbing”,this happens when the little devils dig all the gravel from under a rock and get mashed by falling decorations. Good aeration is important,as is really good cycling practices, this is also due to the high pH. Mbuna tanks are really great candidates for “fish-less cycling”.

Answer by dadragonmann Lets start offby saying the Crustaceans will not be a good match, they may even end up being lunch for the Cichlids. You can safely keep Plecos and Rainbow fish (As dither fish). The Rainbows are fast enough that the cichlids cant catch them and they make them feel safer with more fish around, unless your going to have it overpopulated to reduce aggression,

Question anna : Would a group of clown loaches be ok in a 75 gallon tank with some malawi mbuna cichlids?
The malawis are all quite peaceful and still smallish so i doubt there would be any aggression. There is also 1 syno in the tank
Frage von Levi H : Can you mix Malawi Cichlids in the same tank?
I have a 55 gallon tank and want to put in some Malawi cichlids. Can I combine the three different types of cichlids; mbuna, haps, and peacocks? thanks
Answer by Cichlid theortically you could if you keep a few. I would not recommend doing it in your tank. Haps and Peacocks need a lot of swimming space. Peacocks are a bit more sensitive to stress so I would recommend a large tank.
Instead go for some mbuna’s which stay small and are full of energy.
Frage von Joe C : What are the most colorful and cool african cichlids to get?
I have a 75g tank with african cichlids. I’ll check for their compatibilty with others, thier size and the other important stuff. I on;y want to know suggestions of the kinds. and price doesn’t mater so give tell me anything. Thank you.
Answer by Ghapy I’d prefer an idea of what you already have before I recommend – ‘African’ is a term that covers cichlids from all over Africa and includes many extremely uncompatible fish. Is it a Tanganyikan community? Malawi aggressive mbuna? Malawi mild mbuna? Mild hap? Aggressive hap? Riverine type?
My favourate type of ‘African’ tank for colour and activity is a mild Malawi mbuna tank, that way constant juggling of aggression isn’t an issue. These tanks look best with larger groups of less species, even though the beginner reaction is to get as much ‘variety’ as possible. My own 75 gallon Malawi tank contains 8 Labidochromis Caeruleus, 10 Psudotropheus Acei, and 6 Synodontis Multipunctatus and with tons of limerock across the tank it is a stunning setup, and the two types of fish look amazing together – no need to stuff in more species.
My second favourate type is the Tanganyikan community, but this is more for fish character and unique behaviour – in these setups the fish require more room, so the tank ends up emptier, and the plainness of the fish has less impact as far as showing off the tank is concerned. stocking must be considered very carefully with these guys. My last setup had a pair of Altolamprologus Calvus, 6 Multifasciatus shell dwellers, a pair of Leleupi, and a school of 10 cyprochromis, though I was forced to take this one down through circumstance, the setup did work, but I’ve heard of leleupi causing trouble for multifasciatus.
