I would not put the fish together. They will fight to death. If the african cichlids dont kill the oscar when it is a baby then when the oscar gets older it will probably kill all ur fish except the pleco. The plecos are a fish that will get along with almost any fish.

Generally you aren’t supposed to mix different fish from the different lakes. They all have different water needs, and aggression levels. I know generally Lake Malawi cichlids are very aggressive, and may harm the rest. Specially if they are the ones that resided their first as they have already made their territories.

I would say it’s not the greatest idea. Even if the Cichlids are small they can get territorial.
I have also heard of some puffers being a bit on the hostile end, but a lot of time they are picked on in a community tank, because they are slow moving.
I myself would shy away from putting them in with Cichlids

Now i want to know if anyone can tel me a sure way of sexing Melanochromis auratus or golden cichlid so far i don’t know how to everyone i buy is female and i know they change colour but at a pet shop the are between the age of changing and if they are with allot of males they stay the same colour for longer so please stop stupid question be serious and venting works well when they are a lilittleigger and i know my fish i did allot of research on them before buying but can’t find someone who knows how to sex them easy.

That’s iffy, at best. Cichlids are very territorial, and eels can get big. They need room for themselves, and they aren’t as aggressive as cichlids. I wouldn’t waste my money.
